Iran picks ‘A Hero’ for 2022 Oscars

Critically acclaimed film ‘A Hero’ by two-time Oscar winner Asghar Farhadi has been selected as Iran’s entry for the Best International Feature Film at the 2022 Academy Awards.

The film was chosen by an Iranian committee among three options to represent Iran at 94th Academy Awards with the nominations announcement for the prestigious cinematic event to be made next year in February.

Amazon Studios announced in a tweet the selection of Farhadi’s new offering as Iran’s official Academy Award submission this year and published an international poster for the flick.

‘A Hero’ made its debut at the 2021 Cannes Film Festival, where it shared the Grand Prix.

The film follows a man on a two-day leave from prison, who levels his best to convince his creditor to withdraw his complaint. Amazon Studios has acquired US rights to the Iranian film.

Having previously won two Oscars for ‘A Separation’ and ‘The Salesman’, Farhadi has a high chance to win his third Oscar.

'A Hero' will come to theaters soon and to Amazon Prime Video on January 21, 2022.
